Where to Find us
at the Village of Cuddington and Sandiway Cheshire UK
Cheshire is a county in the north west of England south of the cities of Liverpool and Manchester and north of the west midlands conurbations centred around Birmingham and Stoke on Trent. This strategic position has made Cheshire a centre of communication particularly for the railways. The town of Northwich is at the centre of Cheshire. Central Cheshire has long standing connections with the salt industry which developed into a wider chemical industry in the county. On the south bank of the River Mersey in the north of the county there is a large oil terminal and refinery and a long tradition of ship building and soap manufacture. Despite this industry the county of Cheshire is still mainly agricultural and residential. "Cheshire Cheese" is one of the most famous of all the English cheeses. Also Cheshire new potatoes, known nationally as "Cheshires", are a delight of springtime.

The village of Cuddington and Sandiway lies close to the town of Northwich near to the intersection of the A556 trunk road between Manchester and Chester and the A49 road which passes south from Preston and though the Welsh Marches. The A556 closely follows Watling Street, the Roman road between Chester and Manchester. The A49 south similarly follows the line of the supply road behind Offa's Dyke. The A49 north now terminates south of Preston but it is possible that this route originally closely followed the ancient road to the Roman town of Ribchester on the River Ribble close to Preston. This would make the Sandiway crossroads a very ancient road junction indeed. Delamere Forest lies to the west and beyond the forest is the local landmark known as Eddisbury Hill today famous for it's many communication masts.

The village of Cuddington and Sandiway is developing into a popular and fashionable residential area while still retaining it's rural character. The village has all the activites that can be expected of a modern village community. The position of the local railway station at the centre of Cuddinton is a real asset. The local town of Northwich very well combines the feel of a rural town with that of an active and vibrant community. The Whitegate Way is a few hundred yards to the south west of the village centre and is a very popular walking route for both hikers and those who just like a country walk. Delamere Park is a housing development within the village.
